Staff raise funds for SAFC Foundation
Staff at Sunderland-based contact centre and marketing services fulfilment specialist 2Touch, have raised thousands of pounds for the SAFC Foundation.
Last month, friendly rivalry saw call centre agents at 2Touch, go head-to-head with managers in a sponsored football match held at The Stadium of Light.
Craig Hardy, call centre manager at 2Touch, encouraged workmates to participate, successfully raising over £2,700.
Craig said: “We were thrilled to take part in the charity match, it was a great way for staff to build bonds away from the working environment and enjoy some friendly rivalry.
“The North East is known for being passionate about football. The Foundation uses the power of football to educate and encourage young people to take part in a range of community projects and initiatives.”
To raise the funds, 2Touch held a ‘non-uniform’ day and those involved in the game had to raise £90 to take part.
Craig added: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank colleagues who kindly donated to the charity and to those who have helped with the fundraising. As a large organisation it is a great way for us to come together, have fun and give something back to the community.”
Lindsey. Thompson, head of development at SAFC Foundation, said: “We are delighted 2Touch chose to support our charity and are very grateful for its donation. The Foundation was established in 1991 to increase motivation, educational attainment and the personal skills of young people throughout the region. Since then, we have grown to the point where last year we helped 40,000 children and their families. The generosity of the local business community is vital in helping us to continue making positive changes to lives in the North East.”
SAFC Foundation is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC although the organisation is structurally and financially independent of the football club. 2Touch is always looking at ways to help local, worthy causes. In recent years it has raised funds for charities such as Sport Relief, Macmillan Cancer Support and World Cancer Research Fund.
